Frank Woods lives and writes in North East Scotland. He was an exploration geologist, a journalist, and a primary school teacher before he became a psychologist who specialized in working with troubled young people and their families. He has published short stories and poetry, as well as articles on a wide range of subjects.

Currently, he is giving a final polish to The Birthing and Other Tales of Scottish Manhood, a collection of his short fiction. One of these Anna and the Spirits can be read at www.leopardmag.co.uk/feats/12/anna-and-the-spirits and has also been chosen for inclusion in the Scottish Corpus of Text and Speech (www.scottishcorpus.ac.uk) Another, Boulder, was runner-up in the John Muir Trust 2008 Wild Writing Competition. His novel Return to the River is well under way.

At home in the Aberdeenshire countryside he grows vegetables and keeps bees. He relaxes by woodcarving and playing blues harmonica.

He has practiced tai chi for ten years. He first met Gerda Geddes when she gave a tai chi lecture and demonstration at Aberdeen University in 1998.
